Building a great first experience

Early dental visits set the tone for a lifetime of healthy habits. We keep appointments upbeat and easy, explaining everything in kid-friendly terms so your child feels safe and comfortable.

We move at your child's pace, narrating each step in a friendly way and letting them see and touch the gentle tools before we use them. Showing rather than surprising goes a long way toward easing nerves, and we celebrate the small wins so children leave feeling proud rather than scared.

Our team takes the time to make the dentist a place your child does not mind visiting, which makes future care so much easier. You are welcome to stay close by, and we are always happy to share tips for talking about the dentist positively at home.

Preventive care for growing smiles

Children's visits include gentle cleanings, exams, and guidance on brushing and nutrition. We also offer sealants to protect new molars and keep cavities away.

Because baby teeth hold space for adult teeth and help children chew and speak clearly, caring for them well matters more than many parents realize. We will coach your child on brushing technique they can actually manage, talk through fluoride and snack choices, and answer questions about thumb-sucking, pacifiers, and teething as they come up.

We watch your child's development closely and will let you know early if we see anything that may need attention as they grow, from how the teeth are coming in to how the bite is developing.

When to bring your child in

We recommend a first visit around your child's first birthday or when the first tooth appears, then regular checkups every six months.

These early, low-key visits are mostly about building comfort and catching small issues before they grow, and they give us a chance to track your child's growth over time. Keeping a steady six-month rhythm means each visit feels familiar rather than out of the blue.

For extensive treatment in very young children, we will always recommend the safest, most comfortable option, including a referral to a pediatric specialist when that is best for your child.

A welcoming home for local kids

Families come to us for children's dentistry in Albuquerque from across the northwest side as well as nearby Corrales and Rio Rancho, and we work hard to make our office a place little ones look forward to. From the friendly front desk to the gentle hygiene team, every part of the visit is designed to feel calm rather than clinical.

Dr. B (Boyd Newsome, DMD) genuinely enjoys treating kids and meets each child at their own pace, whether that is a curious toddler or a wiggly grade-schooler. Parents tell us how much it helps to have a familiar, patient dentist nearby, so the whole family can be seen under one roof without a long drive.
